WPC Cricket Representative Academy Program - Juniors

 

The WPC Cricket Representative Academy Program is a wonderful opportunity for junior players to experience the very best Cricket coaches and facilities.  To register your interest contact Brad Freeman, President president@wpccricket.com.au

 

 Coaching Staff:

Coaches who will run the Academy and be at all sessions are:

  • Terry Oliver Level 3 Batting & Head Coach (Former Qld Cricket Head Coach/ Aus A Team Coach)
  • Vic Williams Level 3 Bowling Coach (Former Qld Cricket Bowling Coach)
  • Wayne Nevin Level 3 Spin Coach (Current QLD Heat Girls team Spin Coach)
  • Sam Heazlett Level 2 Assistant Coach (Aus A, Brisbane Heat, Qld Bulls Player)
  • Dumi Kularathne Level 2 Assistant Coach (Former Sri Lanka U17/U19 World Cup Player)
  • Anu Perera Level 2 Program Manager (Cricket Operations Manager - WPC)
  • All coaches will possess appropriate “child safety” certification (Blue Card)
  • Skills coaches (Oliver, Vic & Wayne) possess national and international experience

 

Eligibility and entry to Academy:

  • Academy limited to 32 players & seeking minimum 24 players for the squad (U11 to U17)
  • Applications open 1st April and close 15th May 218 with squad to be finalised by 30th May 2018
  • WPC Cricket Committee to select squad
  • Players to be selected based on the following priority:1. Current WPC Cricket Representative Players (automatic entry) 2. Selection process WPC Cricket and external players of Representative standard or aspiring to be of Representative standard

 

The Program:

  • Program will focus on technical, physical, mental and tactical outcomes
  • There will be a strong emphasis on team-work, discipline, club values and cricket etiquette
  • Skill sessions (Batting; Pace bowling; Spin bowling; Fielding/WK; Skill specific Skills & Conditioning)
  • Skills/drills will have a high activity rate maximising “time-on-task”
  • 32 players aged between 11 – 18 years
  • Players to receive an Academy shirt

Venue:  BUPA Cricket Australia Centre, Albion

 

Curriculum:

  • Terry Oliver will write the program in consultation with other specialist coaches.
  • The players will be exposed to the most modern coaching equipment and the latest coaching techniques.
  • While the program will be generic, individual coaching will be provided within the program framework.
  • The coaches will meet regularly to ensure individual player progress is communicated.
  • Drills and skills will be the equal or better than any state or national program for this age bracket.

 

Cost:  $450 (including GST)
