You are invited to attend the forthcoming opening of the new toilets at Eddie Gilbert Memorial Field which will be held before play in the Eddie Gilbert Memorial Cup. This is an annual cricket match between WPC Cricket and the Queensland Police Service held to honour the memory of Eddie Gilbert, an Aboriginal man who was a Queensland State player and after whom the sports field is named (Who was Eddie Gilbert?). Additionally, as part of the ceremony we plan to unveil an art piece recognising Eddie Gilbert and to be located permanently at the ground.
WPC Cricket received funding of $85,554 from the Queensland Government under the Get Playing Places and Spaces Program in 2019 together with some additional funding from Cricket Australia’s Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund and we are very grateful that this funding has allowed another piece of important club infrastructure to come to fruition.
The details are:
Date: Sunday 29 March 2020
Duration of event: 7.50 am for an 8.00 am start through to 9.00 am
Location: Eddie Gilbert Memorial Field, Orford Dr Wolston Park, Wacol
A number of special guests will be in attendance and this is a great opportunity to showcase our club and show appreciation for the funding received and we really would like you to be present at the ceremony and if you have a blue club shirt to wear that. Sometimes a club member conversation with a special guest helps the club to secure support for further funding or club development projects.
So we can cater for this event please RSVP to Ellen Ferris email@example.com by Sunday 22 March.
