Representative Cricket

We provide the opportunity for our junior cricketers to play representative cricket for the MSW Zone.

Early each season, MSW clubs are invited to nominate registered players to trial for selection in the MSW U12 to U16 representative teams. Normally there are two to three teams selected for each age group to play in the Queensland State Championships carnival or an interstate junior cricket carnival. These carnivals are held in the Christmas school holidays.

For players interested in being considered for nomination for selection for Zone representation (U12-16 only) this will occur along with team selection so it is essential to attend this to be considered. MSW expects that the Club will only nominate players to trial who have demonstrated above average cricketing skills and the appropriate attitude. The following are requirements for nominees:

Representative Eligibility

Under 12–15 Boys

U12-15 Boys - To be eligible for selection, players must:

Be registered with an MSW affiliated club.
Play a minimum of five (5) competition days in the current pre-Christmas MSW season.
Be nominated by their affiliated club.
Attend all trials.
Attend all training sessions and trial matches.
Under 12: Players must be 10 or 11 years of age before 1 September 2026. Players younger than this are not eligible to trial.

Under 16 Boys

U16 Boys - To be eligible for selection players must:

Be nominated by their affiliated club.
Attend all trials.
Attend all training sessions and trial matches.

If a player does not satisfy the five-day participation requirement in the current MSW pre-Christmas season, they must:

Be registered with an MSW affiliated club; and
Have played a minimum of five (5) competition days during the previous MSW pre- and/or post-Christmas season.

The following competitions may also count towards eligibility when played on the same weekend as MSW fixtures:

Lord's Taverners or BMC competitions (UQ, Souths or Wests only); or
Queensland Premier Cricket Grade competition (UQ, Souths or Wests only).

Pre-season T20 matches and practice matches do not count towards eligibility.

Under 13 Girls

U13 Girls - To be eligible for selection players must:

Be registered with an MSW affiliated club.
Play a minimum of five (5) competition days in the current pre-Christmas MSW and/or BWC season.
Be nominated by their affiliated club.
Attend all trials.
Attend all training sessions and trial matches.
Be 10, 11 or 12 years of age before 1 September 2026.

Under 15 Girls

U15 Girls - To be eligible for selection players must:

Be registered with an MSW affiliated club.
Have played a minimum of five (5) competition days during the previous MSW and/or BWC pre- or post-Christmas season.
Be nominated by their affiliated club.
Attend all trials.
Attend all training sessions and trial matches.

Queensland Premier Cricket Grade matches played for UQ, Souths or Wests on the same weekend as MSW competition matches may count towards eligibility. Pre-season T20 and practice matches are excluded.
