Improving the Content and Look of WPC News
We are looking for ideas to improve the content and appearance of this monthly newsletter.
Suggestions so far include adding more images, player profiles and team spotlights. To make these features possible, we need your contributions while also considering the volunteer time required. Please send suggestions or content to Ellen Ferris at secretary@wpccricket.com.au.
Summer Season Update
We’re delighted to announce that WPC has registered a record number of teams and programs for the summer season: Seniors - one Friday night team, three Saturday teams, one Sunday in the QSDCA competition; Juniors - two U17 Challenge teams in the BMC competition, 13 boys/mixed teams and four girls teams in the MSW competition; plus, Blasters, Girls Only Blasters, Academy and Social Smash. This is a fantastic result, and we hope all returning and new members enjoy their WPC Cricket experience. We’ve been receiving great feedback about the club and welcome your ideas on how we can work together to make it even better.
Blasters
We’re seeking more participants for the Blasters program, starting Friday 9 October. If your child previously took part in Blasters, has not progressed to Junior cricket and plans to return this season, please register them as soon as possible. Please also encourage anyone who may be interested to register here:
Social Smash
We recently completed our latest Social Smash series. This flexible and enjoyable backyard-cricket program is ideal for Mums, Dads, Grandparents, Family members and Children, whether they currently play cricket or are reviving past cricketing experiences. Participants have enjoyed the opportunity. We plan to begin a new program on 25 October, with more information to come in the next few weeks.
Volunteers and Blue Cards
As a volunteer-run organisation, WPC depends on every member, player and parent getting involved. Each junior team needs a Coach and Manager, while each senior team needs a Captain and Vice-Captain/Manager. Task sheets are available for each role, along with volunteer rewards. Thank you to everyone who has already volunteered. Your contribution is vital to the club’s ongoing success.
Under State Government legislation, all volunteers must hold a Blue Card (Working with Children Check) or an exemption, and have their details linked to the club’s Blue Card register.
Coach Development - Coach 360
Coach360 is now live. It’s the new shape of Coach Development for Australian Cricket, with modern content built around the environment each specific coach is in, not ‘one-size-fits-all' courses.
What does this mean for you and WPC Cricket:
Coaches pick a pathway for where they coach: Blast, Junior, or Senior
Engage in on-demand learning; short modules, podcasts, in-person workshops
Opportunity to browse an open library of content, or engage in structured certification pathways
Prior learning is recognised and valued in the new system. The new levels are Bronze, Silver and Gold. If you have existing accreditation this is retained but does not transfer to the new accreditation.

Coach Development @ WPC
A Coach Development Silver workshop is expected to be run for junior Coaches on Monday 19 October from 5.30-7.30 pm at CJ Greenfield. This is the equivalent of the former Level 1 and 1.5 Coach accreditation. More details will be available soon.
Clothing Update
The new clothing is expected to arrive this week and then arrangements will be made for players to collect their clothing or place new orders. Further details will be provide soon.

General Meeting and AGM
The next General Meeting (for all members) will be on from 6:45 pm, Friday 16 October at CJ Greenfield. Please mark your calendars; agenda items will be requested soon.
The Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held at the Wolston Park Clubhouse from 6.30pm on Tuesday 2 November. More details will be available soon.
Bunnings BBQs - Springfield Central 4 October, 29 October, Oxley 1 November
The Bunnings BBQs are significant fundraisers for the club, helping us to minimise costs borne by members and we need your help to make them a success. We have the following coming up – Springfield Central - 4 & 29 October and Oxley - 1 November. Abhay Dhir is the Springfield Central BBQ Captain for 4 October, Peter Davies for 29 October and Liesel Chiverton is the Oxley BBQ Captain. We need at least 6 people to help at all times throughout the day in addition to the leadup work. Please let Abhay president@wpccricket.com.au

Trivia Night – Grill’d 14 November
A club social event and fund raiser, Trivia Night is to be held at Grill’d (supplier of our junior player of the day awards) on Saturday 14November. Please mark your calendar. More details will be available soon.

The Management Committee has continued activities supporting the start-up of the summer season as well as the winter presentation event.

We still have the following position vacant – Equipment Officer and First Aid Contact. We urgently need someone to put up their hand to take on this role.
