WPC News - October 2026
Thank You
It’s been great to see so many people in the club stepping up to take on volunteer roles, helping out wherever they can including assisting the curators as they battle weather impacts and try to get fields ready for play. It was good to see so many people attend the last general meeting and show an interest in our club. Some recent comments by our Presidents, Peter and Abhay are “A club’s culture isn’t limited to how we play our game; it’s how we support one and other across each and every volunteer role… Since taking over the reins, we’ve looked to bring our club, back to a club with one identity … no divisions…. One WPC… What we have witnessed through the collective and incredible efforts of everyone is simply amazing… We both believe we are again One Club with one identity and that is something to be proud of and to use as our foundation to continue to grow… from our little
Blasters to Seniors…. The participation numbers and the positive feedback we and the Committee are getting from parents and members is testament to this….” So, we say a huge thank you to everyone for your contribution to the club, our people and the sport we love.

Bunnings BBQs -Springfield Central 29 October, Oxley 1 November
The Bunnings BBQs are significant fundraisers for the club, helping us to minimise costs borne by members and we need your help to make them a success. We have the following coming up – Springfield Central - 29 October and Oxley -1 November. Peter Daviesis the Springfield Central BBQ Captain for 29 October and Liesel Chiverton is the Oxley BBQ Captain. We need at least 6 people to help at all times throughout the day in addition to the leadup work. Please let Peter president@wpccricket.com.au and Liesel wpc-committee1@wpccricket.com.auknow if you can help.
Trivia Night – Grill’d 14 November and Local Matters Month
A club social event and fund raiser, Trivia Night is to be held at Grill’d Mt Ommaney on Saturday 14 November from 5.30 pm for a 6pm Trivia start. The cost is $25 per adult with $15 worth of food supplied and $10 donation coming to the club. Children are welcome to attend. There will be no cost for them, and they can order from the kids menu, and they just won’t be included in the $10 donation. Soft drinks and alcoholic drinks are available to purchase (beer, wine, cocktails no BYO). We know this will be tight for our senior players as you are playing to 6pm but we hope you will come along after your game, even if you arrive after the start time and join in the fun. It would be great to see a good turn out and have the opportunity to connect with club members in a social setting away from the field. So please put this on your calendar now and invite family and friends to join in. As this activity coincides with our Local Matters month, we hope we can maximise the benefit to WPC Cricket. It’s also a good way to use the junior player vouchers however if you do that, please ensure there is a paying adult with each family group. If you are coming, please accept
the meeting invitation and also advise how many adults and children from your family will be
attending by e-mailing Ellen Ferris secretary@wpccricket.com.au or phone 0414 871 461 by
Friday 6 November.
