Cricket Nets Rules
Covered shoes and no spikes are required to be worn and bags left outside our cricket training nets.
Parents, unless assisting with training are not allowed to be inside the nets enclosure. We want to ensure that there are no injuries and that we look after these wonderful facilities.
Contribution from Everyone
As a volunteer-driven organisation, WPC relies on the active involvement of every member, player, and parent. We strongly encourage everyone to consider how they can contribute. Your participation is essential to the ongoing success of our club. Thank you to those people who have volunteered to help out. We need every team to appoint a Manager responsible for communications. We still have 1 junior team without this vital role being filled.
Volunteer Rewards Review
The volunteer rewards system was recently reviewed and there have been a few changes. Rewards will be paid for team management roles for winter teams from 2026 and there have been some changes to the reward amounts for some operational volunteers. For details see the Task Sheets on the website https://www.wpccricket.com.au/volunteerroles
Volunteer Celebration
WPC volunteers and their family are invited to a volunteer celebration from 7pm on Saturday 22 November at the WPC Clubhouse (Pavilion). This will be a night of food, some drinks and celebration in honour of our incredible volunteers.
Heritage Bank Grant
WPC Cricket is very appreciative of the support from the Heritage Bank Community Branch in Forest Lake with a grant of $7001.80 that has enabled us to purchase much need items for our club - plastic chairs, a fridge, a speaker, fence banners, turf wicket tarpaulin covers, hessians and pegs. We hope that members appreciate using these items. If you are thinking about your banking needs, please consider the Heritage Bank.
CJ Greenfield Nets Upgrade Project
We are pleased that the works on the CJ Greenfield lit cricket nets upgrade project are now finished.
The project included a lighting upgrade, removal of the existing synthetic surface covering and the rubber matting, some concrete preparation work, resurfacing with new synthetic, relocation of the container and some drainage works together with resurfacing of the existing field wickets at the ground. We are very appreciative that we received a grant of $103,765.03 from Brisbane City Council.
The electrical upgrade and synthetic covering replacement aspects of the project are proudly funded by the Lord Mayor’s Better Suburbs Grants from Brisbane City Council.
The club also received a grant of $40,000 from Cricket Australia and Queensland Cricket’s Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund to contribute to the cost of the project. We appreciate the support from our parent body for this vital infrastructure project.
Additionally, the club received a grant of $15,000 from The Lion Helping Hands Fund (Richlands) to contribute to the costs of the drainage aspect of the project. We appreciate the support from The Lion, another local sports club to assist in enhancing sphttps://www.wpccricket.com.au/clothingorting facilities in our community.
The remaining funds for the cost of the whole project have come from club funds.
We hope you appreciate and enjoy using the significantly improved training facility.
Snakes, Ticks
At the recent General Meeting there was a discussion about the risks posed by Snakes and Ticks which can be prevalent in the current weather conditions. Please be vigilant about these and other risks. It is best if children do not wander far from the cricket activities including into bushy areas.
